The Habit of the Heart

Poem
When I was confused, unsure of me,
I walked the paths that others chose for me.
A quiet voice I could not control,
Something was eating at my soul.
One day, I decided.
They asked me why.
I had no explanation.
Yet soon, the scattered pieces fit,
And it became my habit to follow my heart.

Following My Heart
I have never been persistent in my life,
Changing jobs a number of times,
No relationship to hold tight,
No material achievements.
“Had I been so restless?” crossed my mind,
Yet I feel peaceful when I close my eyes.
Yes, I was persistent—
Following my heart throughout my life.

Poem

The call I cannot escape,
The flight I fear to take.
Getting myself ready,
Alone, but not afraid.

Roller-Coaster
“Follow me without doubt,”
My heart says so.
It might be a roller-coaster ride—
You may achieve nothing… but yourself.

Poem
Trusting the heart can never be wrong—
But not trusting it
Is not truly alive.
And if it’s a mistake, make it.
All so-called wrongs
Eventually, turn right.
