Time travel

While everyone in family is sleeping, mom pushes me to get up early in the morning to practice singing. She does not know anything about singing herself, yet she wants me to sing like Lata Mageshkar. On the other hand, my dad constantly pushes me to do well in academics.

My interest in both subjects turned into hatred. I am fearful, any sudden change in the situation can irritate me. A minor discomfort and I react as if the world is going to end. 

I wonder, why is there so much stress and fear in this world? I decided to find the answer.

Suddenly, my eyes went to the family picture on the wall, where my grandfather and my father seemed to be enjoying the wedding of my uncle.

My concentration crossed its limit, and I went inside the picture. How did that happen? How to go back home, I did not know? Anyway, there was no charm left in my present life. I decided to stay and enjoy my uncle’s wedding.

My grandfather and granny were so particular about getting the work done in a certain order only. At every step, my granny made sharp comments to correct my dad and mom. My mom uses the same words to correct me. Suddenly, I realised that stress had been transferred from my grandparents to my parents and from my parents to me. Oh my God. Now the question comes to my mind was who started this conflict at first? How did it enter the human mind?

Suddenly, I saw a picture on the wall. Gods and evil forces are fighting with each other. The picture pulled me inside again. 

I gave my greeting to God and said, “If you being God fighting with others, what to expect from a common man?”

God said, “Evil forces do not let us stay in peace, they bring hell of  resistance to our work. We don’t want to fight with them, but they leave us no choice.”

Evil said, “We should also have the same privileges as God. We cannot tolerate this inequality. We are just fighting for our rights.”

God said, “If you want the same privileges then do good work to prove your worth.”

Evil said, “Are you out of your mind! We are not God, we are evil. We are made like this and we do best at our work.” 

God said, “Then you don’t get the same privileges. ”

Evil said, “Who are you to decide?”

Gods and Evil started to fight with each other in front of me. And I had to intrude, “Stop it.”

They both looked at me.

I said, “I am just a little girl, I don’t understand all this. This tension and fight between good and evil has been transferred from one generation to another to such an extent that my parents have become both”.

I told them my whole story. Gods and evil were both surprised. We all decided to go to Supreme to find the answers to our questions.

The place was so beautiful. There was no sun, yet the splash of light everywhere. 

I said, “Oh Dear Supreme, why there are so many miseries in the world?”

There was no reply. 

We waited and waited. It seemed that many years had passed away. 

While waiting, the gods said, “We lead a luxurious life… best wine, best food, beautiful ladies, best clothes…best of everything yet, we are not happy!”

Evil said, “Yes….Everyone is fearful of us. Humans and Gods are no exception. We have great powers, yet we are not happy.”

I said, “My parents says our ego, anger, and desires are the cause of our miseries. We all try to be humble yet nobody is happy.” 

Suddenly, Supreme uttered,“Da”

Everyone was surprised, “Just Da… what does it mean? 

Now I am very confused.

All gods and evil told me, “It has hidden meaning in it. We must contemplate it to find the truth”.

Many days later I don’t know what Gods and Evil concluded but I realised that evil and Gods had been always truthful to themselves. When they are angry and lustful, they don’t hesitate to declare  their weakness. Whereas we humans, firstly, are not aware of what is inside us and secondly, we act opposite. 

I find religious stories are more confusing than guiding – 

1.Don’t hurt anyone, but at the same time fight with bad people. The definition of bad is someone who does not follow our religion. Take care of dogs, cats or specific animals, but eat many other animals?

2. Everyone is equal in the eyes of god, yet in holy books, gods are projected as superior to the Goddess.

3. Live in the moment, says most of the scriptures, yet we are told to do many strange things to secure our position in heaven after life. Our most of the actions are based on the fear of our future. 

4. Stories are based on how a child is supposed to behave towards parents, but nothing about parenting. If I am angry, my parents tell me to think positive, whereas I want to talk and express my anger at least to my parents. 

We are not ready to accept that we all have more or less ego, anger, and desires etc. Dealing with it is a far away issue. I realised Da means Denial.

Suddenly, I was at home.
